Launched a family friendly internet service prior to the growth of social media. Supported my client's work with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children by promoting their child safe service in Australia. Prepared messages for media and other key influencers on the importance of maintaining child safety online. Managed a beta test program with a pre-launch version of the service. Implemented a strategy that had early adopters explaining the service to families at launch.
Pet social media strategy
Created a comprehensive social media strategy to warn pet owners of the dangers of buying unregistered medicines. The strategy included campaign themes and messages tailored to the digital platforms used by pet owners, and messages that vets and pet shops could provide to pet buyers and owners.
Local councils conference
Oranised a national conference for 200 councils to talk about building resilience in local communities. The event focused on affordable housing, sustainable local development and community wellbeing. Provided event management, speaker briefings and delegate liaison to support a national infrastructure investment program.
Cancer research strategy
Developed a strategy that resulted in a leading university and hospital securing new funding for vital cancer research. Identified additional sources of funding, developed tailored messages for each funding body and created a secure online collaboration site to make it easier for researchers to create new submissions from existing information.
Promoting women entrepreneurs
Promoted a women's investment network in Australia at its launch. Secured coverage for the CEO on ABC TV The Business, and in major newspapers: The Australian, Australian Financial Review and Sydney Morning Herald. Secured articles in business publications and online. The women entrepreneurs have since expanded overseas and secured a number of rounds of funding for their businesses.
Network centric warfare (C4ISR)
Secured a National Press Club address for the former US Assistant Secretary of Defense on the topic of network centric warfare or C4ISR. The speech was televised on ABC TV and attended by leading thinkers in government and the private sector. Prepared and providing a concise briefing on the status of C4ISR in Australia for the speaker and for a defence summit.
Crisis Management Plan
Created and implemented a crisis plan for a leading consumer products firm. Interviewed staff and managers from all business areas when creating the plan, reviewed drafts with managers and then provided crisis scenario training to all managers and executives. Secured executive approval to implement the plan. Used the plan to manage a product recall and to manage media and stakeholders relationships during the recall.
Explained energy customers' rights
Working with regulators, energy obudsman schemes, energy retailers and distributors and not-for-profit groups, created consistent and plain English messages to explain a customer's rights regarding their energy supply. Topics included: energy contracts, hardship support, disconnection rules, customers with medical needs, and managing energy usage. Customers got these messages in their bills, via retailer, government and not-for-profit websites and as printed fact sheets.
